It led me back to Penny’s Tail, my very first story, and to the honest truth that the original illustrations—created with AI assistance—didn’t fully reflect who I am or the cultural warmth I carry into my work.

After receiving thoughtful advice and a review that made me pause, I understood that my writing shouldn’t be paired with artwork that doesn’t feel like me. So, with the experience I gained while creating A Cat’s Tail, and with new tools and skills I invested in, I returned to Penny’s Tail with fresh eyes and a renewed sense of purpose.🌺🎨

The redesigned illustrations feel different in the best way: vibrant, warm, and rooted in the colours and spirit of Latin America. They feel like home. They feel like the story I meant to tell.❤️🐾

I hope you can forgive my early missteps as a new writer and give Penny’s Tail a second chance. Beneath the playful adventure is a deeper thread — a reminder of the resilience, love, and hope that shaped my journey to safety and belonging, and the bond I share with my furry companions.🐶💛
